There’s always a first time for everything and today we are releasing our very first free pattern. We just had to work with our dear friend, Kacie of Handmade By Kacie to bring the project to fruition. If you’re unfamiliar with her work, Kacie is a wiz at making every kind of bag you can think of and anything else you could make with a sewing machine. It was a no brainer that we would collaborate with her for our first pattern.
Now…onto the tote bag! We wanted something that would be a quick sew and beautiful to look at. As a mom, I’m especially excited to see giant totes that I can shove lots of toys, blankets, snacks, and whatever else life throws your way.
The bold geometric design makes it easy to play with color and choose the palette that speaks to you. Go graphic and bold like the two samples we made, or soften it with neutrals and and subtle prints. It’s a wonderful way to showcase favorite fabrics while creating something genuinely useful.
The oversized shape makes it ideal for real life. Pack it with quilts, library books, beach towels, groceries, or everything you need for a full day out. The sturdy straps and structured quilted body give it strength without sacrificing style.
Finished Tote Size: 26" x 19"
I have a confession to make. When creating our own sample of the tote, I accidentally pieced with a 3/8″ seam allowance. The result was a slightly smaller 22″ wide and 19″ small. If you’re interested in the slightly smaller version there is a note in the pattern for the dimensions you would need to cut for the lining.
The best part is that this tote pattern is completely free! Be sure to tag us in your makes so we can see your version!
